Bringing Products to Life: Advertising with Motion Design

In the fast-paced world of advertising, capturing the attention of potential customers is more important than ever. One powerful tool in the arsenal of modern advertisers is motion design, a dynamic and versatile method that can breathe life into still images and showcase products in unique and captivating ways. In this blog post, I'll walk you through my process of animating a still image of the Geekvape Poseidon vaping tank using motion design, highlighting its features and making it stand out in the competitive market.

Step 1:

Cutting Out and Assembling the Scene in Photoshop The first step in creating a motion design advertisement is to prepare the product image. For the Geekvape Poseidon, I started by cutting out the vaping tank from its original background using Photoshop's selection tools. This process ensures that only the product itself will be animated, allowing for a clean and professional result.

Next, I carefully assembled the various elements of the scene, such as the tank, its features, and the product name. It's essential to organize these layers logically, as this will make the animation process more straightforward in the subsequent steps. With the scene set, I saved the Photoshop file as a layered document, ready for importing into After Effects.

Step 2:

Animating in After Effects With the Photoshop file prepared, it's time to bring the product to life with animation. I imported the layered document into After Effects, maintaining the original layer structure. This allowed me to animate each element of the scene independently, providing maximum control over the final result.

To showcase the Geekvape Poseidon's features, I used a combination of keyframed animations, such as position, scale, and rotation, as well as more advanced techniques like 3D camera movements and particle effects. The goal was to create a dynamic and engaging presentation that highlights the product's unique selling points and generates interest among potential customers.

Step 3:

Compositing and Final Touches Once the animation was complete, the final step was to composite the scene and add any additional effects or enhancements. For the Geekvape Poseidon, I opted for an aquatic setting, by incorporating glowing bubbles in front in order to add depth, then behind the tank a blurred moving background to add a sense of speed and movement.

I also added some finishing touches, such as color grading, motion blur, to give the animation a polished and professional look. Finally, I rendered the finished product as a high-quality video file, ready for use in various advertising channels.

In conclusion, motion design is a powerful and versatile tool for advertising products. By transforming a still image into an engaging and dynamic presentation, motion design can effectively showcase a product's features and appeal to potential customers. The process, which involves cutting out and assembling the scene in Photoshop, animating in After Effects, and compositing the final product, demonstrates the power of motion design as an essential tool in modern advertising.
